For those of you that haven’t heard of them, Olivier Aubert and Mike Blyth have been on many Microlight expeditions. Their most notable was their South to South expedition, an unsupported flight from Buenos Aires to Cape Town the long way round! A feat for which they were awarded the ‘High Flyers’ award by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) in 2004, along with legendary aviators such as Buzz Aldrin.
To celebrate the centenary of powered flight they decided another trip was in order. Starting from Johannesburg in South Africa, they undertook to fly to the mouth of the Zambezi, along the Zambezi to Victoria Falls, continuing along the Chobe and Cunene rivers to the Atlantic Coast and finished off flying back to Johannesburg. Olivier and Mike really know how to show Microlight flying in its proper light. This is a chilled out account of two pilots flying through stunning African scenery and enjoying every minute of it. All aspects of the expedition are shown, even the slightly embarrassing problem of getting stuck on a sandy river bed!
Well produced with stunning footage throughout, the DVD gives the expedition the credit it deserves.
